Mapping the AI Market: Where Can One Person Win?
I translated a noisy solo-AI category into credible opportunity lanes, practical experiments, and design decisions.
“AI consulting” is not one market.
Some operators sell executive judgment, others build workflows, teach teams, grow audiences, or package intellectual property. The question was not what service to sell, but which one-person AI businesses exist and which opportunities were credible enough to test before specializing.
Made tradeoffs visible.
Research approach
- Compared twelve public market examples.
- Mapped five business-model engines and ten viable lanes.
- Reviewed positioning, offers, first impressions, and website experience.
- Identified whitespace and designed two first experiments.
AI alone is not the position.
The analysis produced five testable positioning lanes and two recommended experiments: an AI Decision Intelligence Sprint and an AI Experience Prototype. It directly informed the decision to organize this portfolio around proof of work rather than a premature niche.
Market intelligence, competitive analysis, business-model mapping, strategic synthesis, opportunity prioritization, and UX judgment.
